SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): A large explosion rang out Saturday night at the Vinton Border Steel mini-mill, which prompted residents in the area to contact local authorities.

According to the West Valley Fire Department, the incident was caused when water (rainwater) that had collected in a large kettle came in contact with molten slag (leftover material).

When the molten slag was poured into the kettle, it touched the water, causing the material to shoot out of the kettle.

Crews stated that upon their arrival, there was no fire and no injuries.
