Southern Recycling to Build New Scrap Processing Facility in Warren County

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Southern Recycling- a full service recycling company serving Tennessee, Kentucky and surrounding regions has decided to open a second scrap processing facility in Warren County. The announcement to this effect was made yesterday by Matt Bevin, Governor of Kentucky.

According to the proposed plan, the new state-of-the-art recycling facility will be built by developing a 45-acres parcel of land off Louisville Road. The news release states that the 60,000 square-feet facility will be built through an investment of approximately $6 million. The proposed facility is expected to improve operations to meet growing demand and ensure more efficient material flow. The site works are expected to commence as early as next month. The facility is expected to start functioning by October next year. The construction of the plant will lead to creation of four full-time jobs.

John Fellonneau, president of Southern Recycling stated that the company, a subsidiary of Houchens Industries, is proud to be able to continue the growth in Warren and surrounding counties. The addition of the new facility will help Southern Recycling to offer enhanced services to industries and also general public and generate significant contributions to help the company achieve its scrap management goals.

Gov. Benin congratulated the company on the investment. The state has long-standing association with the company. The newly announced growth opportunity is the direct result of the reputation of professional services offered by the company all through these years, he noted. With almost 30 long years of successful operation, the company is well-positioned to carry its success forward, Benin added.

Others who congratulated the company include Senate Majority Whip Mike Wilson, of Bowling Green and Rep. Michael Meredith, of Oakland. Sen Wilson expressed the hope that the innovative expansion will put the company at the forefront of scrap processing facilities. Rep. Meredith noted that the $6 million investment demonstrates the pro-business attitude and positive business climate in the region. Earlier this month, Kentucky Economic Development Authority had approved $100,000 in tax incentives for Southern Recycling.

Founded in Warren County in 1985, Southern Recycling currently has three full-service processing facilities in Bowling Green, Nashville and Owensboro. The company specializes in peddler to large industrial recycling. Southern Recycling has been Warren County’s exclusive curbside recycling provider since 1995.
