Softwood Lumber Board Seeks Applications for New Directors for 2022

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): A Softwood Lumber Board (SLB) announced that it is seeking candidates for 2022 to fill seats of Directors, whose terms are due to expire by the end of the current year. The deadline for nominations is April 20, 2021. Each Director will serve a three-year term and could serve only up to a maximum of two consecutive terms.

According to press release, four seats are earmarked for domestic U.S. manufacturers. Out of this, two seats must represent the U.S. South region. Also, one of these companies must be small, whereas the second company could be of any size. The remaining two seats must be represented by two large companies from the U.S. West region. Meantime, two seats are reserved for importers. One of them must be large company from Canada West, while the other company could be of any size from any region.

To be eligible, applicant companies must manufacture and ship within the United States, or import into the United States, at least 15 million board feet of softwood lumber per annum. The large companies are those that account for the top two-thirds of the volume of assessable softwood lumber annually, whereas the small companies are those that account for the remaining assessable softwood lumber.

As per SLB, companies that ship or import around 405 billion board feet or more of assessable softwood lumber would fall under the large category.
