Smurfit Kappa's Innovative Packaging Wins Distinguished Honors

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): European packaging major Smurfit Kappa won three awards for its innovative and sustainable packaging solutions at the 2019 WorldStar Awards. The awards were presented during a ceremony held recently in Prague.

The first product to win the award was the ‘Not a Drop Wasted’ pack for dialysis kit, an innovative pack with rounded corners to protect the 5-litre bags of dialysis solution inside. The ‘Cardboard Castle’ toy box used for shipping toys in eCommerce sector won the second award. The third award-winning product was ‘Packed like Sardines’ automotive pack which eliminates the need for plastics.

Zdeněk Suchitra, CEO of Smurfit Kappa Czech Republic & Slovakia stated that the company is extremely delighted and honored to have been recognized in the prestigious awards. He commended the talented and creative people behind the development of the award-winning products. The company will continue to work with customers from various sectors to come up with new sustainable packaging solutions, he added.

The WorldStar Packaging Awards Competition is one of the major events of the World Packaging Organization (WPO) and is the pre-eminent international award in packaging.

Last week, the company had won ‘Cool Vendor’ and ‘Sustainability’ awards at Deliver 2019-the biggest e-commerce logistics event in Europe. The first award recognized the company as the most respected brand, whereas the second was in recognition of the surge in interest in Smurfit Kappa’s industry-leading Better Planet Packaging initiative.
