Colombian Government Recognizes Smurfit Kappa with Prestigious Award

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Smurfit Kappa Colombia has been honoured by the country’s government on completing 75 years of operations. The company has been awarded the prestigious ‘Order of San Carlos’ award for its continuous investment in job creation, innovation and sustainability over the years. The company was recently nominated as one of the top 25 inspiring companies in Colombia by the National Businesses’ Association in Colombia (Asociación Nacional de Empresarios de Colombia)

The award is also in recognition of the company’s efforts to support and develop recycling infrastructure in the country and for the immense benefits it has delivered to communities through its various social responsibility programmes.

Álvaro José Henao Ramos, CEO of Smurfit Kappa Colombia stated that the company is very proud of receiving the award from the Colombian government. The award is recognition of 75 years of work with its customers, employees, suppliers and communities, he said. The company will continue to develop innovative and sustainable packaging solutions for its customers.

Tony Smurfit, Group CEO accepted the award on behalf of the company. He dedicated the award to all of his colleagues and all previous generations of workers, whose efforts have helped the company reach the important milestone.
