SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): European packaging leader, Smurfit Kappa plc, announced key changes to its board of directors. The changes are part of the ongoing Board refreshment process.
According to press release issued by the company, Christel Bories, non-executive Director, has retired from the Board, effective from 5 December 2019. He has been serving on the Board since 2012. In addition, Roberto Newell has also retired from the Board effective the same date. Newell has been serving as a non-executive Director since 2011 and as Senior Independent Director since 2017. Also, the company announced the appointment of Mr Gonzalo Restrepo into the Board. He will serve as the Group’s Senior Independent Director, with effect from 6th December, 2019.

Commenting on the latest Board reshuffle, Irial Finan, Group Chair noted that both Christel and Roberto had made invaluable contributions to the company during their tenure. The leadership and expertise demonstrated by both of them was of significant value to the Board, he added.
