The expansion works at the facility had commenced way back in 2017 with the development of space for new building to house storage and processing of e-waste, in compliance with environmental regulations. The new building was proposed as part of the company’s strategy to reduce the effects of noise and dust by carrying out the operations in an enclosed building. The expansion also comprised of addition of two new sorter lines which employs latest technologies including metal sensors, color recognition and photo-technology to separate metals and plastics from the waste stream.

Marc Affüpper, director of SRS, EMEA stated that the company has once again demonstrated its commitment to deliver constant improvement in processing technologies. The recent enhancements to processing lines have equipped the company to manage even the newest and complicated electronic gadgets, he said.

The new plastics sorting lines have been designed to deliver a clean plastics fraction, which can be directly supplied to plastic recycler or compounder industry across the globe. Further, it enables original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to make better use of recycled raw materials in the manufacture of new products, thereby making them more sustainable. By providing new options toward sustainable product development to the OEM electronics industry, SRS aims to contribute towards a more sustainable society.
