August 28, 2025: Chinese Scrap Metal Prices Dropped on the Index

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): As of Thursday, August 28, 2025, Chinese Copper scrap prices recorded modest decline on the ScrapMonster Price Index. Aluminum, Brass/Bronze and Stainless Steel scrap prices also dropped when compared with the previous day. In the meantime, Steel scrap prices held steady on the Index.

Copper Scrap Prices

#1 Copper Bare Bright prices were down by CNY 250 per MT over the previous day. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing and #2 Copper Wire and Tubing also declined by CNY 250 per MT each.

#1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery prices were down by CNY 100 per MT upon comparison with the previous day’s price. The price of #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery prices dropped by CNY 50 per MT over the previous day.

Copper Transformer scrap prices were flat on the Index.

Cu Yokes scrap prices held steady.

Cu/Al Radiator prices dipped by CNY 50 per MT on the Index.

Harness Wire 35% Recovery prices were flat over the previous day’s prices.

Heater Cores prices dropped by CNY 100 per MT as of Thursday, August 28, 2025.

Scrap Electric Motors and Sealed Units prices recorded no change over the previous day’s prices.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

6063 Extrusions prices were down by CNY 50 per MT over the previous day.

Aluminum Ingots also dropped by CNY 50 per MT on a daily basis.

The prices of Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Transformers witnessed no variation on the Index.

E.C Aluminum Wire prices recorded a decline of CNY 50 per MT on the Index.

Old Cast and Old Sheet prices also edged lower by CNY 50 per MT each as of August 28, 2025.

The prices of UBC and Zorba 90% INF were unchanged from the previous day’s price.

Steel Scrap Prices

#1 HMS prices held steady as of August 28, 2025.

Cast Iron Scrap also reported no change in prices.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

201 SS prices were flat on the Index.

304 SS Solid and 304 SS Turning prices were down by CNY 50 per MT each on the Index.

309 SS and 316 SS Solid prices witnessed a decline of CNY 100 per MT each when compared with the prior day.

310 SS scrap prices also were down by CNY 150 per MT as of August 28, 2025.

Shred SS prices recorded a decline of CNY 50 per MT over the previous day’s price.        

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

The Brass/Bronze Scrap prices in China recorded slight decline on the Index.

Brass Radiator scrap prices were flat as of August 28, 2025.

Red Brass and Yellow Brass prices edged lower by CNY 50 per MT each on the Index.
