Schnitzer Steel Wins Top Industry Recognitions for Sustainability

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): North America’s leading manufacturer and exporter of recycled metals, Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc. won prestigious sustainability leadership awards.

The company was named a 2021 Sustainability Yearbook Member and recognized as an Industry Mover by S&P Global (S&P). The S&P Yearbook ranks sustainability leaders based on strong ESG performance. Among these companies, it selects one company in each industry as an Industry Mover, based on the strongest improvement in scores over the previous year.

Schnitzer Steel was featured as a Sustainability Yearbook Member for the first time, although this is the third year of participation by the company. A total of more than 7,000 companies were evaluated by S&P.

Schnitzer’s progress on ambitious sustainability goals continues to remain strong, she added.

Also, Schnitzer was named as one of “America’s Most Responsible Companies” for 2021 by Newsweek and Statista. This is the second consecutive year that the company has been included in the list of most responsible companies in the U.S.
