Sault Ste. Marie Timber Company Declares Major Expansion

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): A Sault Ste. Marie timber company will receive money from a provincial funding agency towards business expansion. The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corp. will invest $399,850 in Avery Timber Ltd., which will be used to expand its production capacity. The funding announcement was made by Ross Romano, MPP for Sault Ste. Marie on behalf of Greg Rickford, Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines.

The fund will be utilized towards purchase of a feller-buncher and a log trailer, which in turn will help the company in harvesting more trees, thereby adding to its production capacity. The investment is expected to create seven new jobs in the region.

The Ontarioo government’s assistance allows the company to continue to create valuable and ongoing employment opportunities, added Amanda.

Meantime, MPP Romano noted that the investment will create good, well-paying jobs in the Sault and further strengthen Avery Timber’s reputation. Further, it signals Northern Ontario’s openness to business. The forestry sector plays a critical role in the province’s economy, making significant contributions to not only Sault Ste.
