SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Rio Tinto- the world’s second largest metals and mining corporation announced launch of START- an aluminum label that include recycled content information. The new label is expected to set new standard in transparency and traceability for the aluminum industry.
The label has been designed to help its customers obtain information on where and how the products they purchase are made. This will provide them with the option of making informed choices about the products that they purchase. Alternatively, it will help to easily differentiate between end products based on their ESG credentials. The purchases of these products will contribute to a sustainable future.

The label lists 10 criteria- recycled content, carbon footprint, water use, energy sources, community investment, safety performance, diversity in leadership, business integrity, regulatory compliance and transparency.
Alf Barrios, Chief Executive, Rio Tinto Aluminium commented that START is the first-of-its-kind offering in the entire aluminum industry. It provides an opportunity for its customers to showcase the sustainability of the aluminum purchased from the company to their customers, thus delivering full value from responsible production, he added.
