Resolute Hit New Milestone in Greenhouse Gas Emissions

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Resolute Forest Products (RFP) achieved significant milestone, surpassing its carbon emissions target. The company achieved 83% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in 2019.

Earlier in 2011, the company had announced its commitment to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 65% by 2015, as compared with 2000 levels. The significant efforts deployed at its various facilities helped the company reach the target well ahead of schedule. Furthermore, it continued the efforts to reach the important milestone last year.

It also delivered increased operational stability by achieving notable improvements to power boiler at its Saint-Felicien, Quebec pulp mill facility. In addition, it brought about significant upgrades to boilers at Alma and Kenogami paper mills and Baie-Comeau newsprint mills, all in Quebec. Also, the optimization project at the Thunder Bay, Ontario pulp and paper mill had resulted in 20% reduction in direct emissions.
