SEATTLE (Waste Advantage): Rapid City Solid Waste Division reported that 3.56 tons of non-working Christmas lights were recycled. That’s about 7,849 pounds.
This is a massive increase over the 3.11 tons of lights recycled after the 2022 holiday season and the 2.5 tons collected after the 2021 holiday season.
According to their Facebook page: “THANK YOU all for contributing. The guys can really notice a difference in the MRF while this program is running. There is a substantial difference in blockages!”
