PreZero Commences Operations at Riverside Plastics Recycling Plant

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):  PreZero- the waste management experts, announced that it has begun operations at its hard-to-recycle plastics recycling plant near Riverside, California. This is the first of the series of facilities it plans to open in partnership with Flint, MI-based ACI Plastics.

The commissioning process of the plant had commenced in early June this year. The facility is currently operating at around one-third of its capacity and has already begun test loads of LDPE and LLDPE recovered film and producing pellets. The production will be gradually increased over the next few days with full-scale operation expected by mid-July, said Scott Melton, President of ACI Plastics. Upon full operation, the plant will produce 24 million pounds per year of film pellets, which will be mainly supplied to plastic bag manufacturers, he noted.

The facility was expected to produce pellets by mid-April, but the process faced several delays due to Covid-19.

Meantime, all the equipment is in place in its Westminster, S.C. plant, the installation of which is in final stages. After commissioning the plant in July, PreZero aims to start operating the facility at 20% by August 2020. The facility will have capacity to process 60 million pounds of mixed rigid plastics per year.
