SEOUL (Scrap Monster): POSCO, world’s third biggest steel maker is strengthening its customer-oriented marketing by providing all POSCO products, regardless of steel type such as hot-rolled, cold-rolled and steel plates, through its designated sales outlets from October.
They will also sell POSCO Family products including POSCO C&C`s color steel, POSCO Specialty Steel`s carbon alloy tubular products and Fine Besteel`s section steel products.
Until recently, POSCO classified its sales outlets for the 8 hot-rolled products and 18 cold-rolled products, having them specialize in the products they handle. POSCO Family products from POSCO C&C, POSCO Specialty Steel and Fine Besteel were also sold separately.
However, increasing customers are seeking to purchase various products, including hot-rolled, cold-rolled, steel plates, color steel and shaped steel, through one sales outlet to strengthen their purchase efficiency, leading to the Total Sourcing Solution system where customers can purchase various POSCO products at once.
In May, POSCO selected two sales outlets and allowed them to handle both hot-rolled and cold-rolled products for test operation and now it has expanded this system to all of its sales outlets starting in October.
POSCO’s sales outlets, which are in desperate need of a new growth engine due to the intense competition in Korea`s distribution market, have actively welcomed POSCO`s integrated sales. Personnel of these outlets showed expectation commenting, ``As the division between hot-rolled and cold-rolled sales outlets has been removed, we can utilize this as an opportunity to take off by strengthening our customer services.”
POSCO expects this Total Sourcing Solution system, where customers can visit any POSCO`s sales outlet and purchase all necessary products, to settle as a new model in Korea`s steel distribution market.
