PolyQuest Expanded rPET Capacity at Darlington Facility

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Wilmington, North Carolina-based PolyQuest announced plans to add post-consumer PET processing line at its Darlington, S.C. recycling plant. The new investment is mainly on account of significant growth in customer rPET demand. The new line will expand the plant’s rPET capacity by nearly one-third and is expected to come online by Q3 next year.

According to company press release, the company is has been a major manufacturer of RPET resins, that are either non-FDA or FDA approved for food contact. The resin produced by the proposed line is expected to produce high quality RPET resin that will be suitable for use in a wide range of PET applications. The company currently operates four recycled resin lines. The post consumer lines at the plant have been operating at full capacities, with all of the output being sold out.

John Marinelli, CEO, PolyQuest stated that the additional investment is driven by its customers’ commitment to sustainability. The expansion of recycling capabilities will help the company to support its strategic sustainability initiatives and stay ahead of the curve. The company is well-positioned to source sufficient raw materials as input to the plant, Marinelli added.
