SEATTLE (Waste Advantage): A new recycling program is coming back to Pell City. The new program will allow people to bring recyclables to a designated area for pickup. With facilities and staffing already in place, City Manager Brian Muenger says it was a no-brainer to partner with Calhoun County on the project.
Muenger says this recycling service was offered in the past and some were upset to see it go. No longer a curb side pickup option, Muenger says the new program going forward would require you to bring your separated recyclables to the city’s street department. Partnering with Calhoun County to use their facilities, Muenger says it’s a financial win for Pell City but also important for them to keep a good relationship with the county.
“We are really excited to bring this back as an option for our citizens because unfortunately the recycling market has moved in a way we were not able in our contract to offer curbside anymore and our residents really wanted to get recycling back to the community and this is sort of our first step of doing that.” said Brian.
