NWRA’s Anne Germain Earns Certified Association Executive Credential

SEATTLE (Waste Advantage): The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) has announced that Anne Germain, Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of Technical and Regulatory Affairs for the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA), has earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE©) designation. The CAE is the highest professional credential in the association industry.

To be designated as a Certified Association Executive, an applicant must have experience with nonprofit organization management, complete a minimum of 100 hours of specialized professional development, pass a stringent examination in association management and pledge to uphold a code of ethics. To maintain the certification, individuals must undertake ongoing professional development and activities in association and nonprofit management. More than 4,700 association professionals currently hold the CAE credential. The CAE program is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies.

“We congratulate Anne on earning her CAE credential,” said Jim Riley, NWRA’s interim President and CEO. “It is a rigorous process and we know that through this she will continue to make NWRA a stronger organization.”

Anne has worked in the field of resource conservation and materials management for more than 30 years and has been with NWRA since 2013. Her current work focuses on supporting members by developing and implementing strategies that address common issues facing the industry.

Prior to joining NWRA, Anne worked with the Delaware Solid Waste Authority (DSWA) for 19 years, where she served as chief engineer. The experience with DSWA provided Anne with a unique skill set in implementing integrated waste management solutions for the public sector.

In addition, Anne is a past president of the Solid Waste Association of North America, has served on the executive committee for the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET and is currently a trustee on the board of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists. She is an active national speaker and published author on waste and recycling issues. She is a Board-Certified Environmental Engineer with a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Delaware and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech.
