The Charlotte, North Carolina-based Nucor Corporation announced changes to its Board of Directors effective January 1, 2020.

Nucor Corporation Declares Key Additions to Board of Directors

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Charlotte, North Carolina-based Nucor Corporation announced changes to its Board of Directors effective January 1, 2020. The company’s Board of Directors announced election of Leon J. Topalian as a director and John H. Walker as a Non-Executive Chairman.

Since joining Nucor in 1966, Mr. Topalian has served in various capacities such as project engineer, cold mill production supervisor, operations manager, melting and casting manager and the general manager of the company’s Arkansas and Illinois facilities. He also served as an Executive Vice President of Nucor from 2017 to 2019 and as a Vice President of Nucor from 2013 to 2017. Currently, he serves the President and Chief Operating Officer of Nucor. Effective Jan 1, 2020, he will be elevated to the post of Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Walker has been serving Global Brass and Copper Holdings, Inc. in different capacities such as Non-Executive Chairman, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for a long time.

Commenting on the rejig to Board of Directors, John J. Ferriola, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Nucor noted that the appointments marks the culmination of many years of thoughtful succession planning. Meantime, both Leon and John noted that they look forward to work with the rest of the Board and all of its teammates to lead Nucor to success in coming years.
