Novelis Wins Key Aluminum Supply Contract for New 2019 Toyota RAV4

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Atlanta-headquartered aluminum rolling and recycling major Novelis, Inc. has signed a new agreement with Toyota Motor Corporation towards supply of premium automotive body sheets for the all new 2019 Toyota RAV4- the company’s top-selling vehicle in the country. The lightweight, high-strength aluminum from Novelis, to be used in the hood, fenders and lift gate is expected to make 2019 RAV4 at least 4% lighter when compared with its previous models.

Commenting on the new development, Marco Palmieri, Senior Vice President and President, Novelis North America stated that the recent expansion of its partnership with Toyota is likely to take RAV4 to the next level of safety, performance and style. The unmatched quality and strength of Novelis aluminum will help Toyota to deliver superior experience to RAV4 owners, Palmieri added.

In accordance with the agreement, Novelis has already begun supply of two heat-treatable alloys- Advanz 6HS-s600 and Advanz 6HS-e600. These are specifically designed and optimized for high-strength requirements, perfectly matching Toyota’s expectations. In addition, Novelis’ team of engineers and metallurgists has also developed a novel process to produce alloys specifically for Toyota.
