SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Atlanta-headquartered aluminum rolling and recycling major, Novelis Inc. announced that three of its specialty products have secured prestigious Greencircle certification. The three building and construction alloys to be certified are Novelis' 3105, 3004, and 3025 alloys, which are produced at its Davenport, Iowa; Richmond, Virginia; and Uhrichsville, Ohio, facilities.
According to company press release, the three products were verified to contain up to 99% recycled content. The above mentioned three continuous cast facilities produce flat-rolled aluminum sheets that contain between 77% and 99% recycled content.
Commenting on the achievement, Ganesh Panneer, Vice President, Operations, Novelis North America noted that pursuing GreenCircle's Recycled Content certification was a natural step for the company as it is committed to transparency. Recycling and sustainability have been central to its business model for several years now, Panneer added.
Meantime, Tad Radzinski, Certification Officer at GreenCircle noted that Novelis’ Richmond, Uhrichsville and Davenport facilities have achieved GreenCircle Recycled Content certification consecutively for the past decade. By taking the extra step to get certified, Novelis has again demonstrated its commitment to sustainability and transparency, Radzinski added.
