Norway’s Topmost Recycler Buys Ultra-Modern Paper Recycling System

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Oslo, Norway-headquartered  Norsk Gjenvinning (NG) has selected U.S.-based Bulk Handling Systems (BHS) to supply new paper recycling system at its Oslo mill. The new machinery is expected to become operational during the first quarter next year and will have a production capacity of approximately 120,000 metric tons per annum. The state-of-the-art recycling system also comprises of specific units to monitor the quality of outbound paper.

NG will invest in the latest Fiberpure system, which consists of six optical sorters and four robotic sorters, which will help the company take more tonnage and reduce labor costs. Further, it will allow the company to run multiple shifts with minimal variable cost increase. The combination of screen, air, optical and artificial intelligence technologies helps to remove contamination from mixed paper and ensure high cardboard purity.

Frode Karlsen, Norsk Gjenvinning’s head of the Oslo-region noted that the company is extremely pleased to have signed with BHS for a new paper line for Oslo production facilities. The installation will help the company to achieve new levels of throughput and quality. Meantime, BHS Europe Sales Manager Richard Tromp said that the company is honored to have been selected by NG. BHS looks forward to provide the system that will generate good profits for NG in the years to come, Tromp added.

NG is the leading recycler in Norway, which handles nearly one-fourth of the country’s municipal solid waste. In addition, it also processes materials from other neighboring countries including Sweden, Denmark and the U.K. It handles approximately 1.8 million tons of materials per year. The company processes unsorted paper and cardboard from residential as well as commercial customers into outbound materials which are later used to create new paper and cardboard.
