Norbord's North American Paper Mills Operated at 74% Capacity

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Norbord Inc. provided update on capacity utilization at its North American oriented strand board (OSB) and European panel mills during the second quarter of 2020.

In response to market uncertainties on account of Covid-19 pandemic, the company had announced adjustments to its operations towards end-March, so as to match production with the demand for its products. It had reduced the operating capacity at its mills by approximately 35% for the month of April this year. During the quarterly results announcement, it said that there were early signs of market improvement with respect to demand for its products.

The sufficient improvement in market demand during the rest of the second quarter led to substantial resumption of production across its North American and European mills. It must be noted that the North American and European mills had operated at 79% and 93% capacity in Q1 2020.

Norbord announced that it will continue to use flexible operating strategy and make necessary adjustments to operating schedules.

The company is due to release its second quarter 2020 results on 5th August, 2020.
