Meantime, the country’s imports of nickel scrap skyrocketed by almost 75% over the previous year to total $187.22 million through the first seven months of 2018.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The exports of nickel waste and scrap by the U.S through July this year surged higher by 38%. In accordance with the latest data published by the U.S. Census Bureau, the exports totaled $95.59 million during Jan-July ’18, as compared with $69.19 million during the corresponding seven-month period in 2017. The yearly exports had totaled $121.13 million in 2017.

The top trade partner through July this year was Canada. The exports to Canada totaled $75.43 million, accounting for nearly 79% of all exports by the U.S. The second largest export destination was Japan, which imported $5.8 million of nickel scrap from the U.S. In third place was the U.K with $5.29 million. The other primary export destinations were Sweden ($2.63 million) and the Netherlands ($2.09 million).

The combined imports by the above five countries totaled $91.23 million. The shipments to the top five markets totaled 95.44% of all nickel waste and scrap exports from the U.S. during Jan-July ’18.

Meantime, the country’s imports of nickel scrap skyrocketed by almost 75% over the previous year to total $187.22 million through the first seven months of 2018. The leading sources of import were the U.K ($46.55 million), Russia ($19.75 million) and Canada ($18.58 million), with all three countries registering notable increase in import volumes, over the previous year. The U.K received nearly one-fourth of all U.S exports.
