New Strategic Partnership to Fight Plastic Waste

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Amcor, Delterra, Mars and Procter & Gamble (P&G) jointly announced the launch of a new strategic partnership aimed at tackling plastic waste in the Global South. The companies have committed to investment of over $6 million over the period of next five years to collaborate on various upstream and downstream solutions towards a circular plastics economy.

The partners decided to come together based on a shared understanding that the rising threats caused by plastic pollution can be solved only through a systemic and holistic approach to boost the transition to a circular economy. Meantime, the partners urged like-minded organizations to join the group and support the drive to bring about a real change. It committed to investing in innovative programs.

The partnership will initially focus on countries such Indonesia, Argentina and Brazil, so as to ensure easy access to waste management and recycling systems to over 10 million people across the countries.

The joint mission will eliminate plastic waste from the environment and returning plastic into the value chain as recycled content. The Global South region currently lacks adequate infrastructure necessary to stop plastic pollution, the partners noted.
