SEATTLE (Waste Advantage): Starting Nov. 1, residents can drop off common household recyclables at Steele County facility’s outdoor dumpsters 24/7. Thompson Sanitation will accept appliances for a fee from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. Steele County is switching recycling service providers, but the new owner is promising a smooth transition.
Thompson Sanitation Inc. will oversee recycling services for Steele County starting Nov. 1, taking over from previous service provider Waste Management. Thompson Sanitation is putting the finishing touches on the new Steele County Recycling Drop Site, located on Kilworth Drive near the current Waste Management facility. “We’re pretty much there. If we had to start picking up tomorrow, we could do it,” said owner Frank Thompson.
Thompson said his facility’s proximity to Waste Management is just one example of how his company is striving to make the switch as easy as possible for residents. The color of the recycling trucks will change, but he assured Steele County residents there would otherwise be “nothing new to get used to.” Thompson Sanitation will be posting large signs at their location to ensure that anyone headed to Waste Management will be able to find them.
