The recycling facility will divert post-industrial and ocean-bound plastic from landfill and incineration and convert them into precursors for new plastics, ultra-low sulfur fuels, pyrolysis oils, and Clean-Seas' branded hydrogen, AquaH. In addition, MacVallee will establish a complementary recycling facility at the location. The plastic feedstock for both the facilities will be collected by MacVallee. Clean-Seas will will be responsible for securing the capital and technology required to establish the facility.

In the first phase of the project, budgeted at around $20 million, the proposed facility is expected to process nearly 50 tons per day of plastic waste. The facility will be further expanded so as to make it capable of diverting up to 500 tons per day from landfill and incineration. Macvallee’s existing relationships across the country will ensure a consistent supply of plastic feedback, said Daniel McLaughlin, president, MacVallee.
