SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): A newly announced partnership has committed to recycle around 30 million pounds of plastic per annum.
As per reports, Evansville, Indiana-based Berry Global Group Inc. has signed an agreement with Chicago-headquartered Azek Building Products. Accordingly, the latter’s business unit will accept mixed-material plastic scrap from Berry’s multiple operating facilities located at Ohio, Pennsylvania and Minnesota. This will be used to manufacture a wide range of residential and commercial building materials such as composite decking.
The collaboration will focus on innovative use of recycled materials to aid manufacture of new materials, thereby contributing to reduction of plastic waste in the environment and helping the world in its journey towards a circular economy.
Jesse Singh, CEO of The Azek Co stated that the company is committed to expand its recycling program by giving plastics a new life in its products, through its partnership with Berry Global. The agreement will expand its recycling initiatives and boost the overall sustainability of its operations, Singh added. Meantime, Tom Salmon, Chairman and CEO, Berry Global noted that the new partnership will lead to development of outstanding products.
