SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Germany-based EEW Energy from Waste GmbH and DSD-Duales System Holding GmbH announced plans to set up a joint venture project to treat plastic waste.
According to the joint announcement by the companies, they will co-operate in formulating a procedure to process mixed plastics and other residues from packaging waste, thus generating huge volumes of plastic waste for chemical recycling. As per plans, the companies aim to develop a procedure to process approximately 200,000 metric tons of plastic waste per year. A new plant will be built to process these wastes. It will be jointly operated by both the companies, it said.
The joint venture offers new solution for plastic waste which cannot be generally recycled, thus preventing it from being incinerated. The partnership will further strengthen chemical recycling and help in attaining a sustainable circular economy. The plant will obtain raw materials from the waste streams of both the companies. The pyrolysis oil produced by the highly developed process will be used to produce high-purity and food-grade plastics, to be used in new packaging.
The joint venture proposes a climate-friendly recycling solution for challenging plastic waste.
