NERC Posted Significant Surge in Recycled Paper Capacity

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Vermont-based The Northeast Recycling Council (NERC) announced publication of its 7th “Summary of Announced Increased Capacity to Use Recycled Paper” report. It highlights significant progress in projects to consume recovered paper in the North American region. Prior to this, NERC had released the report in January this year.

According to NERC, majority of these capacity increases are for mills that produce linerboard and corrugated medium, which uses OCC as their main feedstock. Only 50% of these mills plan to use mixed paper, that too at lower input volumes than OCC. The timely completion of all the announced projects will result in consumption of more than 5 million tons per annum of OCC and mixed paper.
