SEATTLE (Waste 360): Monroe County, Mich., seeks a $20,000 state grant to continue its scrap tire recycling efforts.
The county’s health department has been given the green light to apply for the grant from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy to sustain a tire recycling program.
The county has held tire collection events for nearly two decades and collected more than 105,000 tires since 2004, Monroe News reports.
