Minnesota E-Waste Recycler Doubles Capacity with $3 Million Spend

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Tech Dump, the non-profit electronics refurbisher and recycler invested around $3 million to acquire a 90,000 square foot building at 860, Vandalia St., St.Paul’s Midway, as part of expanding its footprints. Along with doubling its capacity, the company aims to double the staff to around 100 and revenue to about $7 million over the next four years.

In the initial phase, Temp Dump plans to occupy 60,000-square-foot of the new space for operations. It intends to carry out building improvements in the rest of 2018 and host a grand opening ceremony in early-2019. The new space will offer additional job training facilities and larger secure storage areas for drop offs. It also plans to launch next year, a retail outlet that sells refurbished items at reduced price. The remaining 30,000-square-foot space will be rented out until the company expands its operations to an extent where it requires the entire space.

The purchase of the new building facility was financed by a City of St Paul STAR $130K grant and a $170,000 low-interest loan from the city of St. Paul.

Tech Dump currently has an 8,000-square-foot location in Golden Valley, west of Minneapolis and an additional 32,000-square-foot facility on Prior Avenue in St.Paul.

The company processes around 5 million pounds a year. Since its inception in 2011, it has processed more than 25 million pounds of e-waste and provided more than 300,000 hours of job training. Furthermore, the company foresees huge potentials for tremendous growth opportunities.
