Thailand scrap imports surged by 50.9% month-on-month to 198,243 tons in August this year but declined by 4.3% year-on-year, according to statistics.

BANGKOK (Scrap Monster): Thailand scrap imports surged by 50.9% month-on-month to 198,243 tons in August this year but declined by 4.3% year-on-year, according to statistics.

In August, Australia was the largest scrap exporter to Thailand with 57,000 tons and the US was the second largest one with 52,000 tons.


In the first eight months of this year, the country's scrap imports amounted to 1.366 million tons, rose by 9.9% year-on-year.

In the given period of time, the US was the largest scrap exporter to Thailand with 379,000 tons, fell by 31.8%; Australia was the second largest one with 179,000 tons, advanced by 87%; Hong Kong was the third largest one with 85,000 tons, rose by 190.8%, all on year-on-year basis.
