Pakistan's Iron, Steel Scrap imports rise 43.6% in Sep: PFBS

Pakistan's scrap imports in the July-September 2012 period amounted to 443,563 mt, advanced 12.07% year-on-year. In the period in question, the value of Pakistan's iron and steel scrap imports was $166.55 million, rose 23.3% year-on-year.

ISLAMABAD (Scrap Monster): Pakistan's iron and steel scrap imports rose sharply by 43.6% year-on-year to 144,185 metric tons (mt) in September this year, and declines 1.81% month-on-month, as per the latest data released by the Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics (PFBS).

The value of the iron and steel scrap imports was $50 million in September, fell 9.33% month-on-month and up 36.8% year-on-year.

Pakistan's scrap imports in the July-September 2012 period amounted to 443,563 mt, advanced 12.07% year-on-year. In the period in question, the value of Pakistan's iron and steel scrap imports was $166.55 million, rose 23.3% year-on-year.

Meanwhile, Pakistan's iron and steel imports in September amounted to 136,550 mt, decreased by 7.6% on year-on-year basis and up 10.7% compared to the previous month.

The country's iron and steel imports in the July-September 2012 period totaled 361,775 mt, decreased by 13.4% year-on-year. In the period in question, the value of Pakistan's iron and steel imports was $319 million, fell 3.83% year-on-year.
