Western Asia country Iran exported over $571 million worth of aluminum, steel and iron ore products in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 20.
TEHRAN (Scrap Monster): Western Asia country Iran exported over $571 million worth of aluminum, steel and iron ore products in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 20, as per latest data released by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).
According to IMIDRO data, country's steel exports value advanced sharply by 14% year-on-year to reach $307 million in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year. Around $188 million worth of aluminum products and $77.3 million worth of iron ore were also exported during the first six months.
“The implementing indigenized technology projects by IMIDRO has saved $750 million during the past 5 years. The projects were related to steel, copper and aluminum industries. During the past 2 years, 228 projects have been implemented in the steel industry. 5,512 jobs have also been created,” said Fereydoun Ahmai, the Chairman of IMIDRO.
Iran is likely to continue increasing its exports, as it is ranked as one of the top 15 mineral-rich nations of the world. The country exports its mineral products to 159 countries, including Iraq, China and India.
Iran's mineral produce include coal, metallic elements, sand and gravel, chemical minerals and salt. It has the world's largest zinc reserves, holds the second largest copper deposits and ranks ninth for its iron reserves.
