India scrap imports rise 33.8% y-o-y in 2011

MUMBAI (Scrap Monster): India scrap imports advanced sharply by 33.8% year-n-year to 6.257 million metric tons in 2011.

--UK was the largest scrap exporter to India with 955,000 tons, rose by 4.4% year-on-year

--United States was the second largest scrap exporter to India with 942,000 tons, increased by 14.6% year-on-year

--The United Arab Emirates (UAE) was the third largest one with 859,000 tons, gained by 34% year-on-year
