Metal Exchange Corporation Expands Asia Footprint with New Singapore Trading Office

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): St. Lious-based Metal Exchange Corporation (MEC) has announced its decision to expand footprint in Asia by opening new trading office in Singapore. The new office, MEC Global Trading Pte Ltd, will offer superior services to South and Southeast Asia markets.

The new office will be headed by Craig Weber, Global Business Manager, who has been instrumental in establishing the Zurich trading office and the Shanghai representative office of the company.

Weber noted that the new Singapore office will put MEC in the center of Southeast Asia markets. Further, it will enhance the access and expertise of MEC to deliver results for its trading partners. The physical presence in the markets served by the company will offer better services for its customers and suppliers in the non-ferrous metals market, Weber said. Meantime, Rick Merluzzi, President and COO of Metal Exchange Corporation noted that the move to expand its Asian presence is part of the company’s overall global strategy to add strength to its global network.

Established in 1974, MEC’s business comprises of purchasing, manufacturing and processing of non-ferrous metals. It has six US manufacturing facilities, as well as sales offices throughout the US and abroad.
