ITAD Major Unveils New Shredder In Anticipation of Boosted Demand

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leeds, England-headquartered Revive IT announced that it has commissioned a new shredder, in anticipation of better business in 2021. The company announced installation of a containerized RS40 shredder from Germany-based Untha Shredding Technology GmbH.

The new investment is part of the company’s move to bring its waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) shredding services entirely in-house, which it believes would ensure secure data destruction.

The new shredder facility will have an initial processing capacity of 5,000 redundant hard drives and 5,000 media tapes. At peak of demand, it expects to shred 1,000 more of each unit type per week. In fact, the shredder, in its full capacity, could process three times this volume, the company said.

Revive IT noted that 90% of the WEEE handled by the company will be processed down to a 40-millimeter particle size, whereas the remaining 10% will be reduced to 6 millimeters size. The plastics and metals will then be segregated and sent for recycling.

Oliver Bedford, General Manager commented that the new shredder will help the company manage the WEEE shredding themselves, rather than depending on third parties, thereby having complete quality control over the services offered by it.
