ITAD Company Launched New Initiative to Bridge the Digital Divide

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): PlanITROI- the New Jersey-based ITAD firm announced launch of a new program that aims to provide one million devices to underprivileged students before the end of the current school year. The launch of the program was held at the recently held ‘International Association of IT Asset Managers virtual ACE 2020 Conference’.

The program titled “Digital Dreams Project” (DDP) will allow individual consumers and businesses to donate or trade in devices for students in need. The donations will be completely tax-deductible.

Paul Baum, CEO and founder of DDP noted that homes and offices have a large number of unused computers. These computers could be used to bridge the digital divide, thus helping students in their studies. The individual customers or organizations could donate or trade in devices. Instead, they could form a team to collect devices from their communities.

The reclaimed computers will be refurbished and redistributed to disadvantaged students. PlanITROI has refurbished and distributed over 7 million computers to individuals since its inception in 2011.

As per estimates, over 5 million households in the U.S. do not have access to computers. The new program could make real difference in the lives of millions of school children, Baum said.
