Innovative Technology Transforms Plastic Waste into Useful Items

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Winnipeg, Manitoba-based ReGen Composites is turning used plastic into usable items, using an innovative new technology. The company transforms unwanted plastic waste and wood into usable materials, including benches, planters and construction blocks.

The innovative technology allows the company to accept a variety of difficult to recycle materials, including all plastic categories from #1 to #7, wood and fibre. It also accepts other aggregate landfill materials. The ReGen Composites processing facility transforms this waste into useful new feedstock. The renewed materials are formulated based on the product being produces, shredded, grinded and granulated into an aggregate, which are later mixed and machine blended.

The company’s patented technology then regenerates this aggregate into a new composite material, which is as strong as cement.

The company does not accept materials from individuals. Instead, it collects waste raw materials from businesses. Also, the company has entered into partnership with Manitoba schools for plastic collection.

The current processing facility at McGillivray Boulevard has limitations. The company is forced to do sorting of the materials outside the building, due to lack of enough space within the building. ReGen Composites is looking to move to a bigger facility, so as to help it expand its operations outside of Manitoba.
