Indonesian Paper Mill Declares Key Technology Upgrades

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):  A major Indonesian paper mill has announced technology upgrade, aimed at boosting the mill’s pulp production capacity and improving the pulp quality. The company has entered into a contract with Valmet on supply and installation of new machinery.

According to press release by the Indonesian PT. Tanjungenim Lestari Pulp and Paper (PT TEL), Valmet will deliver an upgrade of continuous cooking system and two sets of automatic baling equipment. The total value of the order is estimated to be around Euro 10-12 million, although the press release did not disclose the same.

The upgrade comprises of addition of Valmet’s Continuous Cooking G3 technology to the mill’s existing cooking system, in order to ensure production of high quality pulp with high pulp yield and low reject content. It also involves installation of latest chip pumping technology. The startup of the upgraded facility is scheduled for Q4 next year.

In addition, Valmet will also supply Valmet Wire Tyer- a baling equipment, with capacity to process up to 300 bales per hour. The new equipment, which promises reliable bale wire application, will be delivered in end-2020, with startup scheduled for first quarter 2021, said PT TEL press release.
