GreenTec Announces New Partnership to Promote Safe and Responsible E-Waste Disposal

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Cambridge-based electronic recycler Greentec announced new partnership with Canadian mobile phone retailer, Glentel Inc. to promote secure collection and recycling of used mobile devices.

The partnership aims to promote customer awareness on the environmental benefits of safe recycling of harmful cell phone electronic waste. It will host a cell phone take-back and recycling program at each of the 245 Glentel retail locations, which in turn will redirect millions of used cell phones away from landfills. The program ensures responsible recycling of devices thus collected, after destruction of all data.

According to Greentec, mobile phones pose big threat to the environment, especially because they are generally disposed of after an average of two years. Nearly half of the mobile phone owners in Canada are likely to buy new one, in search of latest and better models. These will likely lead to millions of discarded cell phones.

The partnership between Greentec and Glentel intends to promote a sustainable, circular economy by offering convenient device recycling solutions to mobile phone customers. It offers effective lifecycle solution.

Tony Perrotta, President and CEO, GreenTec noted that although e-waste in all forms is harmful, the company sees imminent threat to people from rising mobile phone waste.
