SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Equinox Gold announced that works are in progress towards first gold pour at Greenstone gold mine in Ontario by mid-2024.
According to company press release, construction works have reached 90% completion by end-September this year. The installation of all equipment at the site is almost complete. The piping, electrical and instrumentation works are in final stages. The erection of conveyors and wall for primary crusher is complete. The cladding works on the geodesic ore storage is nearing completion.

The company expects to commence ore stockpiling by end of the current year. It has already started pre-commissioning at part of the crushing unit. The hot commissioning is slated for early-2024. The gold mine project had commissioned natural-gas fired generators during the quarter.
The works on the tailings management facilities are in progress. The company has been ramping up pre-production mining activities during the quarter. The effluent water treatment plant has already become operational.
The Greenstone gold mine in Geraldton is operated by Equinox Gold. The company owns 60% of the joint venture project, which is co-owned by Orion Mine Finance. It has proven and probable reserves at 135.3 million tonnes.
