Sims Recycling is attempting to break a Guiness Record for the most consumer electronics recycled within 24 hours- in multiple locations in a single days.
NEW YORK (Scrap Monster): Sims Recyling Solutions (NYSE: SMS, ASX:SGM) will hold several events around the world in April in celebration of Earth Day, which will be officially observed on Sunday, April 22, 2012, and is also attempting to break a Guiness World Record for the ‘most consumer electronics recycled within 24 hours- in multiple locations.’
These collections will take place throughout the month of April in Austria, Belgium, England, Germany, India, Scotland, South Africa, Sweden and the Netherlands. In the U.S., seven states, including California, Illinois, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee and Texas will participate.
Six of these locations will attempt to break a Guinness World Record for the “most consumer electronics recycled within 24 hours – multiple locations.”
“As a global company, Sims Recycling Solutions has the capability to substantially reduce the negative environmental impacts of end-of-life electronics and is doing so by offering community collection and recycling services all over the world,” stated Steve Skurnac, President, Sims Recycling Solutions, Americas. “This campaign will run throughout the month of April to reinforce our belief that Earth Day should not be limited to one day. Every day is Earth Day for Sims.”
Skurnac continued, “We encourage everyone who has access to one of these collection events to protect the environment by safely and responsibly recycling their electronic waste. For those who have access to one of the sites attempting to break a world record, we hope they join us in our effort to achieve an environmental milestone.”
