SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading South Korean electronics device manufacturer Samsung acheived significant recycling milestone.
Over 610,000 tonnes of electrocnic waste were collected globally by the company in the previous year. Between 2009 and 2024, more than 6.9 million tonnes were collected. Over the previous 15 years, the amount of e-waste collected has steadily increased. It should be mentioned that in 2009, the collection only amounted to 240,000 tonnes.

Over the past few years, the company has taken part in a number of initiatives to gather and discard outdated electronics. Syatematic e-waste collection systems have been introduced by the company in more than 80 countries worldwide. The business also gathers discarded electronic gadgets in collection bins positioned at stores and retail locations, in addition to picking up outdated devices when delivering new ones.
In order to recover important materials including glass, non-ferrous metals, scrap iron, and synthetic resins, the gathered devices are recycled. New goods are manufactured using the recovered materials. By 2050, Samsung wants to manufacture all of the plastic components for its devices using these recycled resources.
Vice President of Global EHS at Samsung Electronics Lee Jun-hwa stated that the firm is not only offering breakthrough AI-based products that provide a convenient user experience to consumers worldwide, but it is also making every effort to be sustainable, from product collection to recycling.
