DS Smith Plastics' Fillbee Nominated ‘Plastic Packaging Product of the Year’

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):  Fillbee- the latest packaging innovation by DS Smith Plastics has been nominated under the category ‘Plastic Packaging Product of the Year’ for Plastics Recycling Awards Europe.

Fillbee is a returnable beverage pack capable to hold four or six drink bottles. It can be designed for any bottle shape. It can be used separately or by fitting them inside a beverage crate. Fillbee could be easily stacked when full and nested when empty. The pack intends to reduce packaging waste and carbon emissions across the entire supply chain. They are produced out of recycled content and are 100% recyclable after its useful life.

Paul Baeyens, Managing Director of DS Smith Plastics, Injection Moulded Products stated that the award is a clear demonstration of the company’s ongoing focus on recyclability and reusability. Fillbee, an inspiration to innovators, has grabbed the attention of key stakeholders in the beverage industry. Furthermore, it has raised the awareness of the value of reusable plastics packaging on the environment, he said.

The other nominated finalists for the ‘Plastic Packaging Product of the Year’ award are: Fairy Ocean Plastic bottle from Procter & Gamble, Reborn shrink film by CEISA Packaging, NORDIVENT ECO 50 packaging film by Nordfolien GmbH, X-EnviroShrink shrink film by RPC bpi protect, Sustainable, 100% rPET, flat wine bottle by Garçon Wines and RPC M&H Plastics, B-NAT Bio-based Shrink Film by Yorkshire Packaging Systems and Bollore and BPPi9 HDPE pallet by Cabka-IPS and Dranken Pallet Beheer (DPB) Nederland.
