DS Smith Appoints New Managing Director for Recycling Division

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): European packaging major DS Smith announced appointment of new Managing Director for its Recycling Division. Mr. Rogier Gerritsen will report to Colin McIntyre, Divisional CEO for Paper & Recycling and will be in charge of the Group’s recycling operations across the European region.

Gerritsen, who joined the company in 2012, currently works as the Cluster Director for the Paper Division and oversees the operational and commercial activities of the company’s recycled paper mills in Europe. He will take charge of his new role in October this year, said the company press release. He succeeds Jochen Behr, who will leave the company by end-July.

The company thanked Jochen for his tremendous work in steering the company through challenging market environments, while ensuring growth in services offered to customers. Also, it noted that Rogier’s extensive knowledge of paper and packaging production will be the key to the company’s next phase of growth. The company will continue its efforts to boost paper recycling rates across Europe and remain in the forefront of designing innovative sustainable packaging solutions, it noted.

Meantime, Gerritsen said that he is excited about the new opportunity and the prospects of working in the sector.
