Domtar Corporation Enters New Agreement to Acquire Appvion’s POS Paper Business

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Fort Mill, S.C.-headquartered paper mill company, Domtar Corporation announced that it has entered into an asset purchase agreement with Appvion Operations, Inc. to acquire the latter’s Point of Sale (POS) paper business. The transaction is expected to close during the second quarter of 2020.

According to the agreement, Domtar will purchase the coater and related equipment located at Appvion’s West Carrollton, Ohio, facility. Domtar will also acquire the license for all corresponding intellectual property.

John Williams, President and CEO, Domtar Corporation noted that the company’s world-class paper making capabilities together with the West Carrollton coater’s significant scale will give rise to a globally competitive POS paper business. Further, the transaction provides new options for robust growth in future, he added.

Graeme Hodson, president of Appvion’s Paper division said that the company will work closely with Domtar to ensure smooth transition of the business and guarantee exemplary customer service to its POS customers.

It must be noted that both the companies have enjoyed strong relationship over the past several years, as part of a long term supply agreement.
