SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Ulm, Germany-based Wieland Group has announced that it has decided to lay off as many as 120 employees at its Pine Hall Operations in Stokes County, North Carolina. Incidentally, the plant, located at 3990 U.S. 311 North, is one of the largest copper tubing manufacturers in the world and also the largest private employer in Stokes County.
The company filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act Notice to the North Carolina Commerce Department on Monday, stating that 120 workers will be permanently laid off. The company did not specify any reason for the job cuts. Neither did it say when the downsizing will begin.
