The proposed Toromocho expansion project was announced in 2018, but was delayed due to several reasons including permitting delays and coronavirus pandemic. Toromocho had produced nearly 244,712 tons of copper last year and was one among the top five leading copper producers in Peru in 2022. The expansion project will boost the current production by almost 20%.
Meantime, Xudong Zhang noted that the company is in pursuit of various exploration projects near Toromocho and also on concessions around the country’s southern mining corridor.
